Well, absolutely nothing.
The only thing that menopause has ever gifted is sleepless nights, an ever bulging waistline and a bitchy resting face that would shock The Mona Lisa.
So why write about something so not funny as menopause and mid-life in general?
Because, my estrogen-ically challenged compadres, I’ve learned that sometimes the only way to survive life’s little shit shows is to laugh directly in the face of the giant monster that depletes us of our hormones, makes us raging b*tches and robs us of any form of sanity. And if you're still reading this, you're probably going through the same thing.
In my 55 years of circling this orb, I have learned a few things which I will impart to you, mostly because of your commitment of making it this far in the blog -
a) A lot of the time, life can suck.
b) Being a woman is not for wimps
c) One of the best ways to get through the hard times is laughter.
My Aunt Dolly once told me, "when you laugh, it jiggles your insides and makes everything right." Wise broad, right?
Laughter is everything and it's the reason why Belly and I started Impish Greetings.
Menopause takes away a lot - our youth, our comfort and many times, our sanity. What better way to rise above it all and find the funny in it?
Laughter may not stop the sweating, our lack of patience, or forgetting where we put our children, but at least we can laugh while everything goes right in the crapper.
